Children are able to start with us from 12 months old. We warmly welcome visits to the setting prior to your child starting with us.
Upon registering you will receive a starter pack and an ‘All about me’ booklet to complete for your child.

At Butterflies childcare we believe it is extremely important that your child feels safe and secure in our preschool environment before they start their permanent sessions. 
With this is mind we offer a short home visit and settling in sessions before they start their preschool adventure!
The home visit is not compulsory however we do find this is a great way for us to meet your child in their own surroundings where they often feel more at ease. 

Following this we offer shorter sessions to assist with the settling in process.  This will gradually build up to a full session depending on how your child progresses.

Should either yourself or your child’s key worker believe that more settling in sessions are required, this will be discussed with the preschool manager and assessed on an individual basis. 

Your child’s key worker will support them throughout their time at preschool.  As we are a smaller open plan setting we aim for your child to have the same keyworker throughout their time with us. It will be the key worker’s responsibility to do regular observations on your child.  In doing this they will be able to track their progress to ensure they are meeting their milestones, plan their next steps and share their learning journey with you. 

Children doing a full day session or staying over lunchtime are required to bring in their own packed lunch and water bottle.  We provide a healthy morning and afternoon snack for those attending all day. 

Your child will need a bag of spare clothes, nappies and wipes (if applicable) and are required to come to preschool in appropriate clothing for the season eg Sunhat/ gloves/ hat/ wellies for wet days. Please also bring in sun cream for hot weather.

As we take part in outdoor exploring please ensure your child wears suitable , comfortable footwear for walking. A bag of items can be left at the setting to avoid taking home and bringing in each day. **Please ensure your child’s belongings are labelled.
